Measurement Lab

This laboratory is presently having all the necessary instruments relating to measurement experiments. These are Owen'x Bridge; Maxwell's Bridge; Schering Bridge; Hey's Bridge; Kelvin's Double Bridge A.C.Voltmeter; A.C.Ammeter; Single Phase Variance, Rheostat, Choke coil and Potentiometer. The students can carry out main experiments viz: Measurement of unknown capacitance using Sheering Bridge; Measurement of unknown inductance using Hey's bridge; Measurement of unknown resistance using Kelvin's Double ridge; Measurement of the unknown inductance using Owen's Bridge; Measurement of unknown inductance using Maxwell's Bridge; Calibration of A.C.Voltmeter and A.C.Ammeter; Measurement of Power drawn by Single phase AC circuit using three ammeters; Measurement of unknown voltage by using potentiometer.
Electrical Machine Lab

This lab consists of Basic Electrical & Electronics Lab as well as Machine Lab. This lab is equipped with variety of trainer kits and machines for performing requisite experiments namely Verification of network theorems; Study of series and parallel resonance condition by RLC Kit; Study of half wave and full wave rectifier circuit with and without capacitor filter and determine the ripple factor; Determination of common base and common gates (TTL) ; Measurement of power consumed in three phase circuit by two emitter characteristics of a transistor; study of various logic wattmeter method. The Machine lab section consists Transformer; D.C.Shunt Motor; D.C.Shunt Generator and the experiments that are carried out in this section are: Direct load test to find losses and efficiency; Indirect test to draw the equivalent circuit of the transformer; Regenerative test or back to back test or Sumpner's test to find efficiency of a tramsformer by using two similar transformers; speed control of d.c. shut motor via field control, armature control, voltage control; Swinburn test or no load test to find the efficiency of the motor; To obtain the magnetization characteristics or open circuit characteristic; To conduct the parallel operation of d.c. generator; To obtain the load characteristics.
Computer Organisation Lab

The basic aim of this lab is to train the students for the bread board implementation of different combinational and sequential circuits. The laboratory is equipped with Digi Lab Trainer; Bread Board kits; Counter and shift register kits; Flip Flop Kits. With the help of these kits the students are guided to carry out various experiments like Implementation of various gates counters and registers using different integrated chips; Implementation of various gates counters and registers and code conversion using different integrated chips; Implementation of counters and shift registers and designing of various counters; Implementation of various flip flops, set reset (SR) Delay (D), Toggle (T) & JK flip flops.
Computer Lab
This lab is having 120 computers in perfect working conditions having speed of 2.66G Hz and all are Pentium-4. The lab has the facility of server running on Microsoft windows; Novel network and limux too are installed on the network. The lab has the facility of four printers which are connected through network. Variety of software is available to the students to perform practical. Emphasis is given on the Data base handling; software project development; Programming techniques in various programming languages.
Internet Connectivity
Computer lab is connected to the internet through tower having very good speed. The students have their own internet accounts and can access information to their need. Separate internet lab is for the staff where all academic and other information is accessible through the net. The internet facility is available to the students for whole of the day so that they can take advantage even after normal working hours.
Communication Lab

Communication laboratory of Electronics & Communication Engineering has various training kits like DSB/SSB AM Transmitter. DSB/SSB AM Receiver. FM Transmitter/Receiver. Sampling & Reconstruction. TDM Pulse AM/De-Modulation. TDM Pulse Code Modulator/Receiver. Delta Adaptive, Delta 7 Delta Sigma M/Demo. Delta Formatting & Carrier Mod Transmitter, Carrier Demodulation & Delta Reformatting. CROs of 25 MHZ, function pulse generator of 2 MHZ and AM/FM function pulse generator of 2 MHZ, PAM-PPM-PWM Modulation and Demodulation etc. are available in the laboratory.
Microprocessor Laboratory
This lab is equipped with multiple numbers of Microprocessor Kits 8085 & 8086 for carrying out experiment of Addition, subtraction etc. using assembly language programming.
Physics Lab

There is a separate laboratory for catering to Engineering Physics for B. Tech. first year students. This lab has experimental setup of Fresnel's Biprism, Polarization of Laser Light, Susceptibility measurement by Quinke's method, Hall Effect Setup, Ultrasonic Velocity in liquids. Besides, the physics lab has sufficient experimental equipment to perform experiments according to the prescribed syllabus.
Mechanical Workshop
Mechanical Workshop is broadly divided into five shops such as Carpentry, Foundry, Fitting, Metal Joining and Machine Shop. Lathe machines, Shaper machine, Universal Milling machine, Gas welding and Arc welding set-ups are available in the Mechanical workshop.
Graphics Lab
Roorkee Institute of Technology, boasts of state-of-art Graphics Lab with a seating capacity of more than 70 students although the standard capacity of each class is restricted to sixty only as per the AICTE norms.The Graphics Lab as drawing boards mounted on adjustable drafting stand, and have provision for fixing the mini-drafter machines for the purpose of preparation of the engineering drawings.
Power Electronics Lab.
Well-established lab of power electronics in ava. All the instruments are or high quality and accuracy.All the experiments are performed out. In this study practical like V-I characteristics or SCR, UJT, IGBT etc. are performed and software-based practical are also performed out.
Power system Lab
Well-established lab. of power system available for the students. All the experiments are performed out about generation, distribution, turns mission etc. All type of experiments about connections is performed out. Study practical about circuit breakers and relays etc.
Electrical Instrumentation Lab
In this lab practical related to all the instruments use in electrical engineering are performed out (according to syllabus) like working of whetstone bridge, transducer, testing of accuracy of instruments.
Telemetry Lab
In telemetry lab experiments about pulse modulation, pulse amplitude modulation, frequency modulation, transmitter modulation etc. are performed out.
Electrical Lab

Well-established electrical lab is available. All instrument are of high quality and accuracy installed in the lab. This lab is equipped with variety of trainer kits and machines performing the requisite experiments namely characteristics of diode, half wave rectifier, full wave rectifier, study of single phase transformer, DC generator characteristics, speed control of D.C. Shunt motor, three phase induction motor and energy meter.
Digital Electrical Lab
A fully developed digital electrical laboratory is available. This lab is equipped with CRO, function generator, TTL inverters, schmitt trigger, 555 timer, CMOS inverter, Adder/Substractor, multiplexes/decoders and all accessories for performing the experiment as prescribed in the syllabus by the university. In addition to this Digital Lab. Trainer and breadboard kits are also installed.
Instrument Of Measurement Lab
In this lab all necessary instruments and accessories are installed for performing measuring experiments. These are LCR bridge distortion factors meter, transistor tester, Owen’s Bridge, Kelvin’s Double Bridge, A.C. Voltmeter, A.C. ammeter, single phase variac, rheostat, choke coil and Potentiometer, CRO different types of transducers (PT-100 trans, J-type trans-K-type trans & presser trans). The students carry out main experiments viz:- Calibration of AC voltmeter and are ammeter, measurement of phase difference and frequency of a sinusoidal AC voltage measurement of voltage, current, resistance using DC Potentiometer, measurement of inductance by Maxwell’s bridge, Hay’s bridge & Anderson’s and many more
Network Lab
This lab is well equipped with variety of experimental kits & accessories. These are Norton Theorem, Tellegin’s theorem, RL & R.C. Circuits, RLC Circuits, CRO, Millimeters and Ammeters main experiments carried out by the students: Verification of super position theorem, Norton theorem, Thevenin theorem & maximum power transfer theorem. Image impendence & characteristics impendence of T and p network, frequency response of twin – T notch kilter.
Electronics Lab.
A well-established electronics lab is available. A variety of instruments are installed in this lab required for carry out the experiments. These are RC-couple BJT amplifier, RC-coupled FET amplifier, Class-B push pull amplifier, wein-bridge oscillator, operation amplifier kit (summer, difference and integrator), instrumentation amplifier and emitter follower amplifier.
Energy Conversion Lab.

This institute has setup an advance energy conversion lab with variety of electrical machines. Laboratory equipped with DC shunt motor, DC Series motor, induction motor and synchronous motor. Major experiments performed by the students: - speed control of DC-shunt motor, speed control DC series motor, speed control of synchronous motor and characteristics of SCR and UJT.
Communication Lab.
Communication lab of electronics and communication engineering for third year students consists of a number of trainer kits such as DSB/ASBAM transmitter, TDM pulse code modulator/Receiver, FM transmitter of modulator/demodulator. Data formatting & carrier modulator transmitter, carrier demodulation and data reformatting. CROs of 25 MHz, function generation, AM/FM function pulse generator and demodulation kits etc are available in the laboratory
Analog Integrated Lab
A well-established analog integrated circuits lab is available. All instruments are of high quality and accuracy. These are CROs, function generator multimeter, ammeter & voltmeter, operational amplifier kits (inverting, non-inverting) PLL precision rectifier, 555 timer betterworth active high pass and low pass filters, A/D converter and D/A converter, DC regulated power supply. With the help of these instruments students able to physically carry out the experiments prescribed in the syllabus.
Microprocessor Lab
This lab is well established with multiple number of microprocessor kits 8085 and 8086 for carrying out experiments of addition, substraction etc. using assemble language. Major experiments performed in the lab: - Interfacing with 8255, interfering with 8253, verification of interrupts interfacing with ADC/DAC, serial communication through RS-232IC etc.
Control System Lab.
This lab is well established with multiple numbers of electrical machines & accessories. DC potentiometer, magnetic amplifier, universal motor, AC motor, CROs etc are available in the laboratory. Major experiments performed by the students viz:- characteristics of self exacted magnetic amplifier, series & parallel connected magnetic amplifier, characteristics of synch torque transmitters, speed control of universal motor using SCR and speed control of AC motor using TRAIC etc.
Machine Design Lab.
Excellent faculty for training the students on Systematic Methodologies, Creativity Analysis and Design of noval mechanical devices.
Applied Thermodynamic Lab.

Study of their lab for acquainting students to different types of thermodynamic processes. In addition the faculty to study the performance of Internal Combustion Engineers, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning etc. is fully developed.
Fluid Mechanics
The lab is fully equipped for importing exhaustive training to the students for solving fluid mechanics problems and laying foundation for learning analytical, empirical and experimental skills.
Heat And Mass Transfer Lab
This lab focuses on micro scale and nanoscale processes, temperature control of electronics, high heat flux engineering and connective transport.
Manufacturing Science Lab
The lab is equipped with various experiments involving in manufacturing processes, metal forming, casting metal removing and metal addition processes. The lab is equipped with state-of-art-machines like lathe, shaper, drilling and welding processes.
Electric Machine Lab
The lab consists transformers, D.C. Shunt generator and the experiments that are carried out in the section are: Direct load test so fuid loss and efficiency of motors and generators. Regenerative test or back-to-back sampler test to fuid efficiency of a transformer by using two similar transformers. Speed control of D.C. Shunt motor via field control & armature control.
Machine Drawing Lab.
Machine drawing is indispensable communicating language for mechanical engineers. This lab focuses students to develop precision & sill for preparing machine drawing using I.S.O. Students.
Mechanical Workshop

A magnificent state-of-the-art workshop is equipped with machine tools and gadgets of carpentry, foundry, fitting metal joining and machine shop. Lathe and shaper machines, Gas Welding and Arc welding set-ups are in the workshop. This workshop trains the students to deal with various aspects of raw material, measurement and processes leading to its conversion of raw material to usable product.
Dynamics of Machine Lab
The lab is established with latest modernized equipment/instrument for comprehensive studies and experimentation on Velocity of Acceleration, Governor, Gyroscope, Balancing, Clutch and Vibration etc.
Refigeration and Air Conditioning Lab
This lab is equipped for experimentation studies on different types of refrigeration & air conditioning systems with evaporators and extension devices etc. and prepares the students for serving the industry.
Material Science & Testing Lab.
The lab is fully equipped for experimentation of comparative study of microstructures of welded components and different metal specimens such as Cost Iron, Steel, Brass and Copper etc. Heat treatment experiments of metals, study of corrosion and its effect. Lab also has the testing machines for impact, fatigue, creep and harness testing of metals.
Measurement, Metrology & Control Lab
The lab is fully developed for experimentation and studies on Stroboscope, Limits, Fits And Tolerances, Dial Indictor, Shark Plug, Tachometer, Sine Bar & Slip Gauges And Vibration Measuring Instrument to prepare the students befitting to serve the industry.
