IT has changed the way of our life and the pace of change is very fast. This scenario is giving us new opportunity as well as new challenges. This department is actively working in collaboration with Electronic & Communication and Computer Science Departments for enhancing the knowledge professionalism & quality teaching. The department is offering B. Tech in  Information Technology as per the curriculum of Uttarakhand Technical University.

Information Technology has  enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes dramatically.   ERP solutions have further empowered the organizations to do multi-location, multilingual and multicurrency operation in the global business environment.
New ways of marketing, making friends, communication and socialization have come up in the form of blogs, forums, chats, emails etc. IT is working as a hub to drive the businesses to new heights. To continuously learn and grasp new technologies is a real challenge for IT professionals. Creating such professionals and to take this challenge for rising to the apex of IT profession is our goal.
At RIT excellence is the way of life. We are committed to give students an environment to nurture  talent to its fullest potential. This is achieved by learned faculty members, year round conduct of seminars,  guest lectures,  industry- academia interaction, co-curricular  and extracurricular activities.

RIT supports general-access computer labs at eight locations. Use of the labs is free (except for printing with Wiscard) for anyone with a valid RIT ID. InfoLab software offerings include many popular word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and graphics software as well as course-specific offerings. Applications are available for both Linux and Windows on dual-boot Branded computers. Hardware includes DVD/CD-RW drives, scanners, video editing resources, color printers, and poster printers. The advent labs of hardware and software is subject to attention and is need based as per recommendation of the system manager.
